Swan Lake National Wildlife Refuge is located in nearby Sumner, the wild goose capital of the world. See the world's largest goose, Maxi, in the town park. Swan Lake is a 10,795 acre wildlife refuge, fish in the 3000 acre Silver Lake, visit the museum (open every Saturday and Sunday), or drive through the refuge and observe all the wildlife. A monthly family fun night is held the first Friday of every month, which includes games, horse-pulled hay rides, and music among other activities. It's a free event for the public to enjoy!
General John J Pershing State Park is located just six miles away; hiking trails, camping, fishing and playgrounds are all available in this beautiful park.
General John J Pershing's boyhood home and museum is located in Laclede; it is a state-run site well worth your visit.
Marceline, the boyhood home of Walt Disney, is a twenty-minute drive away. Visit the Walt Disney Museum or shop the quaint antique shops located on Main Street USA.
Locust Creek Covered Bridge is one of the few remaining covered bridges in Missouri. It is located near Meadville, a short ten-minute drive.
Chillicothe- Travel to Chillicothe and look over the more than 20 murals painted on buildings throughout the city. A wide array of eating establishments can also be found here.

Hunting - geese, ducks, deer, turkeys and other wildlife may be hunted during established seasons.
There are numerous nearby towns that offer antique shopping. The Amish community in Jamesport is also a great day trip.
